How to sell used car parts online in the UK

Last updated: 3 Nov 2026

Parts from a written-off or scrap car are often worth far more sold one by one than the car is as scrap. Here's how to sell them quickly, whether you're a breaker's yard or breaking one car on your drive.

What sells best

  • Engines, gearboxes and turbos, especially for popular models.
  • Headlights and tail lights, wing mirrors, bumpers and doors in common colours.
  • ECUs, instrument clusters, infotainment screens and steering wheels.
  • Alloy wheels, seats and interior trim in good condition.

Write a listing buyers can trust

  • Put the make, model, years and part in the title: "Ford Focus 2011-2014 nearside front headlight".
  • Give the part number from the label, and the engine code for engine parts.
  • Say which side it is using nearside and offside (which side is which).
  • Photograph the actual part in daylight, including the label and any damage.
  • Be honest about condition, and say whether you give a warranty or accept returns.

Pricing

Look at what the same part is selling for on eBay and at other breakers. Collection-only parts like doors and bumpers sell for less than ones you can post. On Vehicle Part Finder our listing tool suggests a price from similar live eBay listings.

List free on Vehicle Part Finder

Buyers search by registration and see your parts next to eBay's, cheapest first, and message you on the site. There are no listing fees and no commission. Add parts one at a time with photos (our AI fills in the details), upload a stock list, or add the whole car you're breaking. Start selling, or if you run a yard, see the breakers' page.
